The Company

Mlin-97 is a joint-stock company (JSC) with 100% private capital. It is the successor of one of the oldest enterprises of food industry in the city of Razgrad, Bulgaria. The company’s development is based on the vision of Sally Shishmanov, who was appointed Director in 1981 and managed the enterprise for over 30 years. The factory was privatized in 1998 after years of modernizing the production process of pretzel sticks and baked goods. This privatization and modernization process is a model of how effective management can enable the successful restructuring of a business for the free-market economy. Mlin-97 JSC is now a 100% private company, a leading manufacturer in the Bulgarian baking industry and owner of the best-selling domestic brand of pretzel sticks “HRUS-HRUS”. The competitive advantage of our business is our closed production cycle, which includes our own: grain yield, milling complex to produce pure flours from selected varieties of wheat, and production facility for pretzel sticks. This closed cycle ensures the consistent high quality of our entire production.

1976

A production facility for pretzel sticks is built (production capacity of 600 tons per year).

The production facilities for bread and pastry goods are modernised.

1978
1980

The enterprise becomes the leading regional producer of bread and other baked goods.

The enterprise is transformed into “Mlin-Razgrad” EOOD – owned by the municipality of Razgrad.

1995

Our business strategy is based on innovation and open communication with the consumer. Our policy of capital investment into new technologies enables us to continuously update our production capabilities – this ensures the consistent high quality of all our products while also promoting environmental sustainability. The company owns international certifications for Integrated Management Systems and has covered all EU requirements for work organisation and quality of production. The production factory of Mlin-97 JSC is based in the city of Razgrad. The firm also has an office and warehouse in Sofia, and another warehouse in the city of Plovdiv. Mlin-97 works with an extensive distribution network to ensure its pretzel sticks and wheat flours are sold nationwide.

1997

The factory has a gas system installed.

A second production line for pretzel sticks is installed.

Also, 49% of the share capital is sold to an employee-management company; the enterprise is converted into a joint-stock company (JSC).

1998
2000

The second stage of the enterprise’s privatisation is completed. The investment company Mlin-97 JSC acquires 100% of the municipal enterprise “Mlin Razgrad”.

The new management decides to invest into building a new modern milling complex.

Mlin-97 JSC opens its modern milling complex, equipped with machines from BUHLER AG, and a new production facility for special breads.

Management decides to reconstruct the production facility for pretzel sticks and to introduce two HASTAMAT automated packaging machines.
